Metz

Myriama Idir is an artistic director and exhibition curator.
Her work is expressed in public spaces, at the intersection of graffiti, industrial design, architecture, and manufacturing expertise. She develops a curatorial signature that connects the history of forms to that of uses, urban aesthetics to the material narratives of territories. Far from a decorative or folkloric interpretation, Myriama Idir considers graffiti as a visual grammar in motion; a starting point for considering the connection between urban art, contemporary visual arts, and gestures from everyday life, construction sites, and studios. These movements are at the heart of Myriama Idir's curatorial projects, whether they take place at the international Constellations festival in Metz, in an IKEA logistics warehouse, or in more institutional exhibition contexts. Working with earthenware and stained glass, repurposing industrial materials, is acknowledging that the city is a body, that every wall, every void, every passageway, already contains a story.
Myriama Idir invites artists to work with the multiple dimensions of reality, to embrace its material without ever submitting to it. To inscribe new forms into the fabric of what surrounds us.
"I think of the city as a territory of writing, imagination, and tension. A stage where the political and the sensitive meet, and where the artistic gesture, even fleeting, leaves its mark."
Myriama Idir - Curator of the Urban Art program at the Constellation de Metz Festival: Trompe-l'Esprit
Each year, Constellations de Metz pursues its commitment to promoting the city's architectural, urban, and landscape heritage through unique creations inspired by the city of Metz. Over 1 million visitors attended this eagerly awaited, unmissable event, with free admission for the people of Metz, as well as tourists and visitors passing through the city. When art surprises, challenges, attracts, and brings people together in the heart of the city to experience it differently, to make it vibrate and shine.
The 9th edition of the Metz Constellations International Festival takes place from June 19 to August 30, in a summer format centered around two main themes: a nighttime program focused on digital art with the Pierres Numériques nighttime tour, curated by Jérémie Bellot, and a daytime program focused on urban art with the Urban Art program, curated by Myriama Idir, featuring 11 works by the following artists:
