Malte Martin is an artist—a graphic and visual designer.
His multifaceted work creates a public space for artistic experimentation, blending organicity and monumentality, gestures and signs, at the intersection of theater, dance, music, architecture, and design. His influences are multiple. He began his career with Bauhaus training at the Kunstakadémie Stuttgart, before attending the Beaux-Arts de Paris and then the Grapus workshop. He founded the graphic and spatial design studio Écouter Pour Voir and created his artistic laboratory Agrafmobile to give form and life to intimate and collective narratives in the spirit of Édouard Glissant's Tout Monde. Since then, Malte Martin has continued to stage a visual theater of the living—between creation and migration—that shifts the boundaries of everyday life, within the city and transformation, in harmony with nature.
By deploying a social design approach as a common thread throughout his artistic body of work to support new divisions of uses, Malte Martin participates alongside residents in the creation of the city, in partnership with institutions, local authorities, urban planners, architects, associations, collectives, and all those who imagine and create cities differently.
At the heart of changing territories, Malte Martin draws inspiration from streets, buildings, landscapes, and the multiple interwoven cultures to rebuild hospitality, and through art to regenerate, through shared work, a world intrinsically shared—one invigorated because resolutely embodied.
Sculpture-places, shared landscapes, vivid memories, and monstrous beauties are all themes and universes through which to explore Malte Martin's prolific work.
